A Leafy Plant? Isn't the story of Jonah about a whale? Well yes, and no. As incredible as incredible as the idea of a huge fish swallowing a man and then spitting him out on land three days later sounds, it really isn't the most important part of the story nor the key to understanding what the book of Jonah is all about. That role goes to a leafy plant. A plant that doesn't show up until right at the end of the story. A plant that springs up one day and then is eaten by a ravenous worm the next. That leafy plant is the key to the story. So let's talk about it.
