First Five / Final Five:

- Take the first five minutes of each day to READ God’s Word, and the final five minutes of your day to REFLECT on God’s Work in your life.

The Big Idea:

· In your own words, how would you summarize the main idea of the message?

From the Message:

· Why does Paul call love the “greatest of these”?

· When have you experienced love within the context of the church?

· What are some ways that we tend to not love?

From Scripture:

· This passage is located in a bit of an unusual place.  Paul has been talking about spiritual gifts (chapter 12) and then resumes that theme again in chapter 14.  But he interjects this poem here to help fix the problem of posturing and disunity that gifts seem to be causing (actually gifts are not the problem).   What does he share that should be considered crucial to the church?

Think it through / Talk it over:

· Who is someone that loves you?  How do you know?

· History is filled with the stories of churches that were plagued by division? Why? And what can we do to make sure that doesn’t happen where we are?

· What are some common issues or problems that tend to come up in relationships?  What are ways that we can address them?

· How does a person of love stand out in today’s world?  How do we see the opposite of love exhibited? How can a person be more loving?

Take a Step:

- Truth transforms us only as we take action.  What is that one step you need to take?
