First Five / Final Five:

  • Take the first five minutes of each day to READ God’s Word, and the final five minutes of your day to REFLECT on God’s Work in your life.

The Big Idea:

  • In your own words, how would you summarize the main idea of the message?

From the Message:

  • God created life to be good.  Where do you most experience that “goodness” in your life?
  • How does having a God-perspective change your life?
  • In what ways are you “doing good while you live”?

From Scripture:

  • The poem uses a series of contrasts, but the point is not to focus on the opposites, rather to include everything in between—so the idea is “a time to be born, a time to die, and everything in between.”
  • Also, this poem is meant to be representative and not inclusive.
The poet is trying to provide a wide range of life experiences as
examples. Which connects with you most?

Think it through / Talk it over:

  • What are some of the seasons of life you have gone through?
What season are you in right now?  Why does it matter?
  • People in today’s world are very committed to creating “moments” and experiences.  Do you think this is good or bad—and why?
  • What are some of the most important lessons you have learned about life?
  • Where have you seen God take a moment in your life and make it beautiful?

Take a Step:

  • Truth transforms us only as we take action.  What is that one step you need to take?
